About this tour
This is a new ride that combines the comfort you can find in Barichara with trail rides that will allow you appreciate from angles unknown for most tourists, spectacular landscapes and beautiful tiny colonial villages surrounding this heritage town, considered the prettiest in Colombia.
For lunch we will have local foods in villages. Depending on rider´s will to ride in the afternoons, they can ride back to town or return to the hotel in the support vehicle to have some rest or maybe a massage before the evening activities.
In the evenings we will have non riding activities that will let you know more about local culture in a very special, non conventional way.
Dinner will be at the best restaurants in town.

Itinerary
Day 1: Bogotá – Barichara
We will drive through the beautiful roads of the departments of Cundinamarca, Boyacá and Santander, stopping at Puente de Boyacá, where the final battle for the independance of Colombia took place and after will head to Villa de Leyva for a mini tour and lunch. After lunch we will continue to Barichara to spend the night. Time: 10 hours approx.
Day 2: Barichara – Guane – Barichara
Guane is a beautiful small town, center of the Guane indigenous culture, we will have a rather fast ride in the morning and in the afternoon back to Barichara using the famous Lengerke path between Guane and Barichara.
Day 3: Barichara – Cabrera – Barichara
Cabrera is probably the most authentic colonial town in the área with the best preserved spanish architecture I have seen in Santander. We will transit Lengerke´s Caminos Reales on the way to and from Cabrera. This is a shorter day in distance, we will go walking most of the time because of the cobbled stone paths.
Day 4: Barichara Cañón del Chicamocha
We will have a 3 hour ride trough beautiful pineapple, tobacco and citrus plantations on the way to The Chicamocha Canyon, a Colombian natural attraction nominated as part of the group of 261 destinations in the campaign to select the top seven modern natural wonders of the world. This paradise-like place is a not-to-be-missed visual spectacle. Imposing, majestic, and fascinating is how tourists describe the Chicamocha Canyon, a geographic accident located in the department of Santander. After having a delicious goat, the specialty of this region, we will return to Barichara to enjoy a delicious dinner and a well deserved rest.
Day 5: Cultural and sports activities in Barichara and San Gil
The real treasure of Barichara is its pristine colonial architecture. Many come to this pueblo just to wander its flagstone lanes, snapping photos of the white-washed, red-tile-roofed buildings. Start your exploration at the Templo de la Inmaculada Concepción y San Lorenzo on the main square. It is built of local stone carved by the village’s artisans. The «Capilla de San Juan de Dios» is a beautiful church with a noteworthy cemetery. The «Capilla de San Antonio» is a famous attractive with a small shaded plazuela. The «Casa Aquileo Parra» was once-home of a former Colombian President (1876-78). It’s presently a museum. The «Capilla Santa Bárbara» is an amazing place to visit, now used for cultural events and weddings. The afternoon is free to walk around Barichara or simply rest at the hotel or enjoy the pool, but most of our visitors enjoy doing rafting (level 2) in the Fonce river (optional).
Day 6: Barichara – Bogotá
Return to Bogota, end of this great adventure.
